Coro Sonoro, Switzerland
The choir “coro sonoro” has been rehearsing, singing, studing and improving constantly for 12 years. In this period their name has became known locally and nationally as a sound ensemble with young voices that enthusiacally studies the new and seldom sung compositions, that takes folk songs equally seriously like complex sacred music and feels at home in the world of difficult sounds, that also like to let their listeners abound in nice harmonies. The coro sonoro performed „Carmina Burana“ and Stabat Mater by Francis Poulenc. They were the first in Switzerland to present e.g. „The Armed Man“ by Karl Jenkins, „Misa a Buenos Aires“ (Misa Tango) by Robert Palmeri, „Celtic Mass“ by Scott MacMillan and Jennyfer Brickenden. In 2011 they performed „La petite messe solenelle“ (Giacomo Rossini) and a program with Jiddisch music. And in 2012 they have presented another Swiss premiere: the Requiem for Choir and Big Band by Steve Gray. The artistic director is Margret Sohn.
Lundi 7 heures / Monday at Seven , Switzerland
In summer 1998 a dozen friends, all singing in different choirs, decided to meet once or twice a month on Mondays at 7:00. Their only ambition was to sing for fun. But by now there are already 16 singers. They took the opportunity to perform in St. Petersburg, Russia. In October 1999 they gave two concerts in Gruyère. Trapped by success, they started meeting for weekly practices as well as musical weekends in preparation of their first album and various concerts. In October 2000 they introduced their first CD “Emmenez moi”. Since then Lundi 7 Heures have participated in several festivals, TV and radio shows. Their concert tour in Bolivia and Brazil in autumn 2002 was accompanied by a humanitarian action in favor of school for underprivileged children in Tarija. This musical tour enriched the repertoire and gave color to their second CD "Gracias a la Vida", released in 2004. And for the 10 years of the creation of the group a trip to Vietnam in October 2008 with concerts in Hanoi, Hue, Saigon certainly influenced the third CD in 2011. The choir members do not feel compelled to be serious, they chose a playful accessory: bar stools that inspire their entertainment on stage.
